I took the kids to their first day of gymnastics today. David didn't want to go but I asked him to give it a try just in case he liked it. He did. It was so cute. He barely ever says anything but I asked him after the class if he liked it and he just smiled and nodded. I got the same response when I asked if he wanted to go next week. Ugh! He is so cute.
He would seriously hate me for thinking he's cute. We also watched Nanny McPhee in the car and I looked back in the rear-view mirror and saw him with this broad smile at the part where Evangeline and Mr. Brown admit that they're in love with each other. Uh-dorable! He just steals my heart every ding dang second.
I wish he would say more to me. I think he likes me but I can't be sure. We played this silent game of beach ball dodge ball while he was supposed to be sleeping while Mr. P and a friend installed his bedroom door the other night. He was smiling so much and sometimes would let out a little laugh.
At dinner tonight it was completely silent except for me and Frances arguing about her table manners. Let me tell ya, that is an intellectual dialogue. I ask questions of the other kids and get Mmhmm's and head shakes for no's. So awkward. How do you engage shy children?! They are so nice and sweet but I can't stand the silence. It's making me crazy!
Natalie needed help on her homework tonight and I had to ask her to repeat every question at a more audible volume. She's so sweet, I love talking to her. Yesterday we had quite the unexpected heart to heart--it's amazing how she sees the world. She manages to expect a great deal from herself while excusing the selfishness of others. Very sad, but also something to learn from.
I'm just loving these kids!
